Thesis Driven: Live in NYC
We're hosting four in-person courses in NYC in the first quarter of 2025; here's what we recommend to see, eat, and do in the city
For all its warts, we love New York here at Thesis Driven. So in the first quarter of 2025, we’ll be hosting four in-person programs in NYC at 3 World Trade Center. Here’s the lineup:
January 14-15: Fundamentals of Capital Raising: Insider’s guide to raising capital for real estate projects–from individuals, family offices and institutional investors - Sign up
January 28-29: Introduction to Real Estate Development: A first-person POV simulation for aspiring developers to learn to source, underwrite and finance a local real estate project - Sign up
March 4-5: Fundamentals of Commercial Real Estate: A bootcamp providing an insider’s view of “a day in the life” of key industry stakeholders, with real-world insights and applications - Sign up
March 18-19: Fundamentals of Capital Raising
Our live courses in NYC span two afternoons, giving students ample time to eat, drink and explore everything the Big Apple has to offer while they’re in town.
But with over 56,000 restaurants and bars (yes, 56,000), it's not easy to pick the best NYC bagel, slice of pizza and martini for a two- or three-day stay. So as NYC residents for a combined 30+ years, we’ve compiled our own personal guide to eating & drinking your way through NYC—all within a short walk or subway ride from our 3 World Trade Center classroom.
To get access to the full guide, you’ll have to sign up for a Thesis Driven course (see full list of upcoming courses). But here are some of our top picks.
Where to Eat
Corner Bistro: Quintessential no-frills burger joint in the West Village serving one of NYC’s most iconic burgers since the ’60s. Light and dark beer only. Fries are a must. $
L’Industrie: One of the best slices of pizza you’ll have in your life. Try the burrata and the pepperoni. And the gelato with olive oil drizzle is next level. Beware of the lines. $
L’Artusi: Favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. Go-to-order is roasted mushrooms, spaghetti (but all of the pasta’s are great), steak and don’t miss the olive oil cake. They take walk-ins at the bar. $$
Raoul’s: A Soho institution known for its peppercorn-crusted steak au poivre. If you sit at the bar and get there early, you might get one of the 8-10 burgers they serve a night–which might be best in NYC. $$$
Where to Drink
Ear Inn: Best dive bar in NYC, in our humble opinion. Filled the memorabilia from sailors who drank there in the 1800s. And delivers a pretty good burger. $
Employee’s Only: An iconic West Village speakeasy with craft cocktails, a late-night kitchen, and a fortune teller at the entrance. Image above $$$
Dead Rabbit: An historic Irish pub walking distance from the course with a cocktail bar upstairs, Guinness on tap downstairs, and a menu of updated pub food. $$
Where to Stay (for the Course)
The Marlton Hotel: A trendy boutique hotel in the West Village. Rooms are small but the restaurant and workspace downstairs & bar at night is great–and it’s an easy commute to the course. Image above $$
Sonder Hotel: For a reasonable priced stay with apartment-like amenities, Sonder is a great option. $$
The Greenwich Hotel: For a high end boutique hotel, Greenwich Hotel is hard to beat. You can stroll 15 minutes down to 3 WTC after breakfast at their restaurant Locanda Verde. $$$
